Living in Korea for a year can be the experience of a lifetime. You will have the chance to taste exotic cuisine, observe elavorate ceremonies, study(and live) a new culture and learn about various Eastern religions, and maybe even learn a new language (although knowledge of the Korean language is not necessary). When it is over, you will have become more aware of the world around you, more independent, more understanding and tolerant, more adventuresome, and wealthier for it in all respects - financial, emotional, and mental. This experience is also good for your resume as most employers respect foreign work experience and maturity it brings. And, Korea is a great starting place to visit other Asian countries if you want to travel throughout Asia.

Koreans take education very seriously. This is rooted both in their overall culture stressing hard work, and the high degree of competition to enter college or university. Learning to speak English is very important to Koreans. Korean children have just recently begun to learn English starting in elementary school. The teachers have not traditionally been well-spoken in English because of the vast difference between the sounds of two languages, and the fact that previous English language learning was not conversationally based, as it is now. This resulted in people who are generally very knowledgeable about grammar and vocabulary, but shy and unprepared for the spoken language. As a reult, English Language Institutes were created, and became very popular (almost every child goes to one, and many university and college students, businessmen and housewives, as well). These institutes are staffed with Native-English speaking teachers and Korean-English teachers. As a result, there are many opportunities to teach English in Korea.
